Candied hawthorn (冰糖葫芦 Bing-Tang-Hu-Lu) is Chinese hawthorn wrapped with icing sugar. This famous Beijing local snack dates back to Song Dynasty (1147 to 1200 BC), when it was used as medicine to restore the empress' health.
Taste: Sweet outside and sour inside. It is best in winter.
